“Fettle” is the LSE Health Society blog which aims to create a discussion platform where students can exchange ideas, raise awareness of health issues and share (learning) resources, drawing upon their extensive professional, clinical and academic experiences.
The LSE Health Society is formed by postgraduate students from the health-related Masters programmes at the London School of Economics & Political Science and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The full range of programmes includes:
- MSc International Health Policy (IHP)
- MSc IHP (Health Economics)
- MSc Health Economics, Policy and Management
- MSc Health, Population & Society
- MSc Health Policy, Planning & Finance (LSHTM)
Being a blog, this is of course, also open to other students within the department of Social Policy and anyone else who is interested in health care and pharmaceutical-related issues.
The committee this year (2009-10) is comprised of 12 members and the society has (at the last count) 107 members representing a diverse array of nationalities. This year we also hope that the blog will create a platform that will allow students to engage with academic staff in an informal, irreverent manner based upon current and emerging health care issues.
Our core activities include:
- Arranging lectures, seminars and public events
- Arranging an annual trip to Geneva (WHO, WTO, Unicef, Novartis) and Brussels (various European institutions)
- Organising social events
- Creating an informal learning environment/information exchange
We are supported by LSE Health and the LSE Social Policy Department.
